~Two Months Old~

Dear Rowen,

Today you are two months old!! You must of known that today was a special day when you woke up because you have been smiling and laughing all morning!

This month you have been growing what seems like everyday! You are growing so fast that some times I have to go back and look at your first pictures, and I am amazed at how much bigger you are.  You weighed approximately 13 pounds this morning when you woke up, and that puts you in the 75th percentile for weight!  I definitely think you will double your birth weight long before your six month birthday.  Currently you are wearing a mixture of 0-3m clothing and 3-6m clothing, with more and more of the 0-3m being put away into storage.

This was the day you came home...

And this was yesterday...

Sleep.  I do believe you inherited my love of sleep and for that I am grateful.  Each night around eight o'clock we follow your routine of bath, swaddle, bottle, book, and then bed.  For the past week and a half you have been sleeping anywhere between 10-12 hrs, and it is magical to say the least.  I'm not gonna lie, I was not a fan of the many night time wake ups and I'm glad that so far you seem to have outgrown them.  Sometimes when  you don't seem to want to nap during the day I  have to remind myself that I would much rather you not nap and sleep all night then nap and be awake all night!  Our favorite (well my favorite) bedtime book has been "Its time to sleep, My love", it has really great pictures and I know one day you will enjoy the bright colors.   We also started reading "Are you my mother" but your big brother and sister decided that book looked like a good afternoon snack while we were gone the other day!  I hope the thought of J & L eating your books will one day inspire you to always put them away :).

Eating.  Recently you have started to eat anywhere between six and eight ounces per feeding and eat every four to five hours with the exception of night time.  You love to eat, and we love that you still "hoot" (it literally sounds like hoot) when you are hungry, just as you did the day you were born.  Yesterday you decided that I wasn't doing a good enough job with your bottle (which you have started to death grip) so you took matters into your own hands...literally....

This month your personality has really started to come out!  You love to talk (you get that from me :)) and sometimes when I put you in your swing I can hear you babbling on and on.  You are working on your smile and are starting to laugh, especially when Jack and Lola start licking you!  You love to open your mouth to them, which is something we might need to work on because it only makes them want to lick you more! Bubbles, when you get mad, with your wee irish temper, you blow bubbles, lots and lots of bubbles, and its hard not to laugh at you :).  You continue to roll from your belly to your back, and have developed a knack for squirming all the way down your crib, even in your swaddle.  I think your favorite part of the day, aside from eating, is bath time!  Your dad gives you your bath every night before bed and your face just lights up when he puts you down in the water, the whole time you just keep kicking your little legs.  I think you might have a future in swimming! And oh your hands ( I have to mention them), you still love your hands, and you are so so close to getting your thumb to stay in your mouth!

This month you have also had some firsts....

You had your first plane ride...(which you were so good on!)

First Trip to Disney...

First Memorial Day...

We have had an awesome second month with you little man and love watching you grow.  You are the light of our lives!

Love,
your momma

~Disney With A Baby~

Two weeks ago we decided to take our six week old to Disney.  While this may seem crazy to many, it was a magical experience for us, that while Rowen won't remember, we will remember as his first Disney trip.  We are Disney people, some people just aren't. We wanted to go away on a little family vacation, where Rudy wouldn't have to use up any vacation days, and we could just relax as a little family.  Now I realize there isn't very much that is relaxing about Disney, but we quickly realized this will probably be the easiest Disney trip we ever have in our child raising years.

This is just a few pictures of his first trip, and a few of our new Disney memories...

His First Plane Ride...

Our Hotel (we loved the little ferry, it was perfect for going to Downtown Disney)...

Waiting for our luggage so the best swaddle we had was a towel...

All ready to go....

The Magic Kingdom...

His First set of ears...still a little big!

Downtown Disney...

His First picture with Mickey...and he was fast asleep!

This picture will be appreciated as he grows...

Meeting Winnie the Pooh, he was mesmerized!

Mexican Donald...

Our last night spent at the Magic Kingdom...

And Probably one of my favorite pictures of the trip, Rowen's First Carousel Ride, which he screamed for 10 seconds while the picture was being taken, and then promptly fell asleep for the rest of the night!

They say that once you have kids vacation will never be the same, and that is an understatement.  When it was just the two of us we could stay at the parks all day and stay out as late as we wanted.  As a family our vacation was what worked best for Rowen.  Vacations will never be the same but that's fine by me, they are much more 'magical' as a family!

Happy Mother's Day

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.
~Washington Irving

Apparently Rowen didn't realize that Mother's Day is supposed to be for sleeping in, but I don't think I ever really understood that concept when I was little.  As I have my first Mother's Day I have to celebrate my mother, whom I likely wouldn't of been able to survive this first month without.

Words cannot express what my mother means to me.  She is the smartest, kindest, most caring person I know and she is my best friend, most loyal advocate, and always believes in me.  There has never been a day in my life that I have questioned how much my mother loves me, and I hope that one day when Rowen grows up he will be able to say the same thing about me.

Happy Mother's Day Marmie, love me, and your grandchildren Rowen, Jack, and Lola!

~One Month Old~

Dear Rowen,

Today you are a month old, which I still can't believe how fast the time has flown.  It seems like just yesterday life was all about us (your dad and I) and now for a whole month life has been all about you.  In a month we have watched you grow from being this little tiny baby (which we thought you were pretty tiny) into a bigger baby who is starting to get a personality.

You haven't yet decided you like to sleep at night, and I think you are going to be an early riser like me, as you rarely enjoy sleeping past six thirty.  When you do sleep you are out for three to four hours, and spend most of your sleep trying to free your arms from your swaddle.  You like to have music playing when you go to sleep, and you seem to like the jungle sounds on your giraffe. And when we are the most tired, you seem to know it, and just laugh or coo at us, and we quickly forget about the lost sleep.

One thing we must remember is your Hair, or lack there of.  At first your dad and I thought you were losing your hair, but we have decided its just your head growing faster than your hair does, which makes you look like a balding old man, and sometimes Jack Nicholson when its standing up!

Overall you are a pretty easy going baby.  Sometimes you do get a little bit feisty, especially when its time to eat, but you quickly calm down and just start looking around.  I am pretty sure you are in love with our ceiling fan, as you want to stare at that more than you do us!  You have also started to roll from your belly to your back, which many people have said is very early but we love to watch you do it!

This month has been different than any we have experienced before, with all ranges of emotions, but we wouldn't trade a moment of it for anything.  Its hard sometimes to remember what life was like before you, but I think thats ok because we have a life to look forward to with you.

Happy one month our dear chicken little, our sweet little Rowen!
